Are you thinking of purchasing doves to release on your own? Please read the following:
Purchasing Your Own Release Birds: Those who seriously care about the safety and wellness of the birds will never offer birds for purchase that you can release at your event yourself. Most often, their fate will be that of the domestic ringneck doves: thirst, starvation, predators, etc. If they are fortunate enough to survive for a time, you may also be contributing to the wayward pigeon population menacing public buildings and statuaries. Please make the ethical choice... Our Doves:
Release doves used by professionals are pure white homing pigeons, which are also known as Rock Doves. There are factual and linguistic aspects regarding why the pure white homing pigeons are referred to as “doves.” In Spanish, the words “dove” and “pigeon” are synonymously referred to (“paloma”), as is the case with Portuguese (“pombo”), German (“taube”), Dutch (“duif”), Korean and Greek.
We embrace and employ the ethical standards established by the WHITE DOVE RELEASE PROFESSIONALS. There are many, many dove listings out there on the internet -- but the WDRP is the ONLY group that screens it's applicants to ensure that members are top-notch professionals in the business, and that their care and practices with the birds are of the highest ethical standards. |
